Weekend Recap: Thunder and Furies Split the Weekend; Inferno sweep Les Canadiennes

It was an intense weekend in the CWHL as the Thunder and Furies faced off in Toronto and Markham while Les Canadiennes were in Calgary to take on the Inferno.

The Thunder earned the win on Saturday with a 5-2 victory over the Furies. Liz Knox was in net and earned her 39th win against the Furies, making her the 5th all-time winningest goalie in the CWHL.  On Sunday, Sarah Nurse led the Furies past the Thunder with a 4-3 win in OT.  Nurse scored 2 goals in regulation and scored the winning goal in OT.

In Calgary, the Inferno swept Les Canadiennes with a 2-4 win on Saturday and a nail-biting 3-2 win on Sunday.  Rebecca Johnston led the team on Saturday with two goals with Blayre Turnbull getting the go-ahead goal on Sunday.

Kaitlin Willoughby,Kelly Gribbons and Mackenzie Macneil scored their first CWHL goals this weekend while Natalie Spooner earned her 100th point in the CWHL.
