The Calgary Inferno continued their hot streak this weekend against the Markham Thunder while the Furies took on the Blades in Toronto in the weekend series.
After splitting the series last weekend, the Thunder were in Markham this weekend to take on the Inferno on home ice. It was a fast first period with 3 goals scored, 2 from Calgary’s Brianne Jenner and the lone Markham goal by Jess Jones. Zoe Hickel scored in the third to give the Inferno a 3-1 victory on Saturday. The Thunder were hoping to bounce back on Sunday, but the Inferno offence was on fire scoring 7 goals and winning the game 7-2.
In Toronto, the Blades were in town to try and get their first win of the season. Morgan Turner opened up scoring for the Blades in the first, but the game was soon tied up by Shannon Stewart. Sarah Nurse, had a great night scoring 2 of the 5 goals for the Furies, with the Furies beating the Blades 5-1. On Sunday, the Blades worked hard to rally, but Natalie Spooner had a solid second period and the Blades lost 4-2 to the Furies.
Morgan Turner, Demi Crossman, Shannon Stewart and Megan Quinn all score their first CWHL goals.
