Mike LaZazzera to Complete the Rest of the Season as the Interim Head Coach for Rays

 January 29, 2019 -The Shenzhen KRS Vanke Rays announced that Bob Deraney has stepped down as the Head Coach of the Vanke Rays, and has taken a new position that will focus on player development in  North America for the KRS. The former assistant coach, Mike LaZazzera will lead the team to complete the rest of the season in CWHL as the Interim Head Coach for Rays.

LaZazzera, whose 32-year coaching career consists of high school, college, junior and professional hockey, joins KRS for the 2018-19 season. LaZazzera served as head coach of the Springfield Pics of the US Premier Hockey league. He has also acted as head coach for the Winston Salem T-Birds (SPHL), Jacksonville Lizard Kings (ECHL), Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL), Springfield College and Agawam High School (Massachusetts MIAA Division I).   He is an experienced assistant coach, having worked for the Portland Pirates (AHL), Phoenix Roadrunners (IHL), Tallahassee Tiger Sharks (ECHL), Greensboro Monarchs (ECHL), Reading Royals (ECHL), Greensboro Monarchs (ECHL), University of Maine (Hockey East) and Plymouth Whalers (OHL). In 2006, LaZazzera spent two years with the New York Islanders as the video coach under NHL Jack Adams winners Ted Nolan and current Las Vegas Knights head coach Gerard Gallant.
