Montreal, QC (January 23, 2018) –– Les Canadiennes de Montréal (17 GP: 14-3-0) will make their 2018 home debut against the fourth-placed Vanke Rays (18 GP: 11-6-1) on Jan. 27, 5:30 p.m., Jan. 28, 1:30 p.m., and Jan. 30, 7:30 p.m. at Michel Normandin Arena, Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard.
The Super Series will be an exciting experience for fans, marking the return of veteran forward Caroline Ouellette to the Canadiennes’ lineup. The four-time Olympic gold medalist and four-time Clarkson Cup champion was on a brief hiatus in 2017 to give birth to her first child in early November. Ouellette is just one goal shy of establishing a new all-time CWHL record for career regular-season goals. She is currently tied for first place with Jayna Hefford (130).
The Shenzhen, China-based Vanke Rays have proven to be playoff contenders in their inaugural season, with a youthful roster boasting four players among the top 10 CWHL scoring leaders, and an impressive rookie squad, including NCAA standout Cayley Mercer (30 points in 18 games) and defensive powerhouse Ashleigh Brykaliuk (the top scoring defence in the CWHL with 23 points in 18 games).
Saturday’s game will feature the Scotiabank Skaters, an initiative between Scotiabank and the CWHL that allows children to meet their hockey idols. They will take part in the pre-game ceremony.
Sunday’s game will feature free hot chocolate for fans, courtesy of MNP, and a “Skate with Les Canadiennes” session after the game.
The three-game series will conclude on Tuesday, a night that will feature a $5 student discount on tickets with a valid student ID. A special ceremony celebrating Caroline Ouellette’s “Girls Hockey Celebration” peewee All-Star hockey team will precede puck drop.
