The CWHL is the premier professionally run women’s hockey league in the world: dedicated to raising the profile of the women’s game while providing a place for the best international female hockey players to train and compete. The league is comprised of five teams: the Boston Blades, the Brampton Thunder, the Calgary Inferno, les Canadiennes de Montréal, and the Toronto Furies.

The league is led by CWHL Commissioner Brenda Andress and the Board of Directors is full of familiar faces committed to the cause, including Cassie Campbell-Pascall, Brian Burke, and Arlene Dickinson.

The third annual All-Star showcase will take place at the Air Canada Centre (40 Bay St, Toronto ON, M5J 2X2) on February 11, 2017 at 1:30 PM.

The CWHL All-Star event falls into our pillar of continued support for growing the game of hockey in our community. Our aim is to provide these athletes with a first-class experience and the fans with a chance to see the best of women’s hockey with an NHL in-game experience. The CWHL represents affordable, family-friendly hockey entertainment. It’s a game of skill, speed, and finesse and the access to these hockey heroes is unprecedented.

The Toronto Maple Leafs first announced a partnership with the Toronto Furies of the CWHL in 2012. While we continue to support the Toronto Furies as our official partner, we are supporters of the CWHL as a whole and of all of the teams involved in this professional league.

There will be three full 20 minute periods of hockey.

The 34 players are the best of the CWHL — CWHL professionals, Olympians, and National Team players. The 34 players were pre-selected based on input from the coaches and management of the five teams, as well as media input. The captains will then be selected by fans through online voting, to start on December XX and run through until midnight on February XX. On Friday, February 10, 2017 there will be an exclusive draft event. Captains will pick their starting line-ups and the remaining players will be chosen by a stick pull (road-hockey style!).

You can follow the draft on the CWHL’s Twitter and Facebook profiles.
