With 170 combined votes through CWHL polls via Twitter and thecwhl.com, Toronto Furies goaltender Amanda Makela has been named the ADT Goalie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 28.
This marks the second consecutive week the Thunder Bay, Ont., native has won the fan-voted award and the third time this season.
Makela continued her exceptional play from a week ago in helping the Toronto Furies earn two upset wins over the visiting Calgary Inferno. The two victories extended both the Furies and her own personal win streak to three straight games. A Mercyhurst University Laker alumna, Makela made 63 total saves between the two wins, posting a .940 save percentage and 2.00 goals-against average.
Makela joined the Furies this past offseason after being traded by Les Canadiennes who drafted her in the 2016 CWHL draft. She made her CWHL debut this season versus the Kunlun Red Star on November 19, 2017.
